Can you tell how happy I am in this picture? It took us a while to get here, but we finally got the accent wall done in the dining room! Everything from choosing the wrong sheen of Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black, to horrible sleeve rollers, to sheer laziness kept us from completing this project on time. With everything I learned painting our dining room, I decided to provide you with 3 tips on how to choose the best accent wall for your space.
1. Choose a Solid Wall Space
First things first, accent walls are best on solid walls that have no openings, such as doors or windows. For example, If a wall has large and open windows with a beautiful view, that wall isn’t going to be a great accent to the space. The point of an accent is to attract attention. Natural light from large windows might change how the paint color, wallpaper, or molding looks and you may not like the results. A great solid wall by Photo by M. 2. Find the Natural Focal Point
Second tip: When looking at the room where you want to put in an accent wall you have to find the natural focal point. The natural focal point is where your eyes naturally look when you enter the room. Society 19 said it best “Your accent wall is going to draw attention no matter where you put it, but you want to make sure that the attention is drawn to the right place.”
3. When Absent, Establish The Focal Point In Your Space
This is one of the most important tips. Take some time to think about how you want to decorate the space. Think about if you have a collection of framed photos, or any kind of art, you want to hang, what kind of furniture you want in the space, or what kind of feeling you want to add to the room in general. Doing this can help you use those elements and create an amazing accent wall to serve as a focal point in your space.
So there you have it, a few tips to help you pick an accent wall for your next project!
If just dope and amazing was a person. Great tips.
